Weezer is an alternative rock band from Los Angeles, California formed in 1992. If you were a fan of Sublime in the 90s the you will like Badfish. They are coming to Phoenix to play at the Marquee Theater. Here is some info from wiki:

Badfish is a tribute band dedicated to playing the music of Sublime. The group is named after a song appearing on the album 40 Oz. to Freedom. Formed in 2001 at the University of Rhode Island, the group’s members, who were computer science majors, began playing local Rhode Island clubs and quickly began selling out shows. They continued touring the East Coast and Midwest of the U.S., becoming popular on college campuses among Sublime fans who never were able to see the band due to Bradley Nowell’s 1996 death. Since then the group has done multiple national tours per year. In 2008, the band was nominated for Best Tribute Act in the Boston Music Awards.

The group played 152 shows across the United States in 2006, selling just under 100,000 tickets and grossing $1.4 million in sales. Cocker performed the opening set at Woodstock ‘94 as one of the few alumni who played at the original Woodstock Festival in 1969, and was very well received. Cocker was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s 2007 Birthday Honours list for services to music. To celebrate receiving his award in mid December 2007, Cocker played two concerts in London and in his home town of Sheffield.

Queensryche is coming to Phoenix for a show at the Dodge Theater. If you are a fan, you should check them out. Here is some info from wikipedia:

The band scheduled a special concert for Newsday Insiders on February 4, 2008 at Newsday’s auditorium in Melville, NY, but was forced to postpone the show due to heavy snowfall in Chicago.

On March 5, 2008, the band posted a bulletin on their Myspace page stating that a new album was in the recording stages.

It was announced on October 29 that the title of the new album would be American Soldier, a concept album about war from the perspective of those on the front lines.

On February 3, 2009 Mike Stone announced his departure from Queensryche to focus on his side-project Speed-X. Michael Wilton recorded all the guitar parts on American Soldier. Parker Lundgren, who played for Tate during his solo tour, will be replacing Stone for their 2009 tour.

The new album is out and they are coming. Spinal Tap is coming to Phoenix for a show at the Dodge Theatre. Here is some info from wikipedia:

On March 2, 2009, Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer held a press conference at the House of Blues in Los Angeles to announce their forthcoming album of new and old Spinal Tap songs, plus a 2009 “Unwigged & Unplugged” tour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the film, This Is Spinal Tap. According to an L.A. Weekly report, when MTV News’ Kurt Loder asked the trio “if they had plans beyond an album and tour, Shearer answered, ‘We’re gonna bomb Iran.’” [3]

On April 1, 2009, Guest, McKean and Shearer played on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno as the musical guest.

The Glenn Miller Orchestra is coming to Chandler. I got some info from wikipedia to explain who they are. Read it below. The show is at the Chandler Center for the Arts.

The Glenn Miller Orchestra was originally formed in 1937 by Glenn Miller. It was arranged around a clarinet and tenor saxophone playing melody, while three other saxophones played the harmony. Miller had already formed one band before this in 1936, but dissolved it as he considered it too similar to other bands of the era.

The new band became very popular and recorded a number of chart successes - among these were the ever-popular, “Moonlight Serenade,” “In the Mood”, “Tuxedo Junction”, “Chattanooga Choo Choo” and “I’ve Got a Gal in Kalamazoo.”

Gary Mullen Is a British singer and songwriter best known for closely impersonating Queen front man Freddie Mercury with his band The works.

Gary Mullen became a fan of Queen at an early age and had always been a keen singer. Eventually his love of singing led to him joining a couple of local bands where he cut his teeth playing live at various clubs around the country. Being a karaoke enthusiast he found much enjoyment in visiting The Horseshoe Bar in Glasgow where his uncanny performance of Queen songs always seemed to wow the crowd. Although writing lots of his own original material beforehand, Gary shot to fame after appearing on British TV talent show Stars In Their Eyes as Freddie Mercury, winning both the live grand final and going onto represent the United Kingdom in the Euro grand final versions of the show.
